there are many many different styles of bonsai. Uprights, windswept, cascading etc. You should choose which one you like and practice.

This summer I was given a bonsai tree. I like anything miniature and have always wanted to have a minit-tree. In the midst of moving from city to city in Texas, my small bonsai endured much stress and climate change leaving it in a very weak state. Not to mention I really had no thought how to properly care for him. Luckily, there is a bonsai store right near my house and today I got some fertilizer which will hopefully help bring him to be stronger and more pleased. Question by zattaltin: How can you get bonsai seeds to sprout?
I planted some bonsai seeds, Japanese Red Maple to be exact, and they still haven’t sprouted and they have been in the pot for at least a month and a half. Just recently instead of leaving them in the window I went them to a darker place by the heat duct so they would get more heat, hopefully I will see some sort of result soon as they have been there for at least a week. Are there any other better methods?

Could be that the seeds are infertile or another reason could be that the seeds have not been stratified , that means that they have not gone through a cold winter outside. With some seeds they need to experience a couple of months of cold weather to prime them for the warmth of spring and in fact storing them in the fridge for two or three months is a recommended form of treatment to prepare them for sowing.

Okay any advice here is completely accepted that being said…….
1. I have recently found an interest in bonsai. I have watched a lot of videos and read a lot of articles but none have answered these questions. I went out and clipped a branch of af a crepe myrtle tree (very pretty when in bloom) i figured i could grow roots on it by setting it in water for a few weeks. Will this work? and if not how can i make this plot to where it does work?
2. Where can i get supplies for this project ( I live in Irving Texas just north of Dallas) Supplies like the pot the soil some of the wire mesh and wire. I don’t have a credit card so i can’t order online.
3. Are Crepe Myrtles indoor or outdoor trees, how often should they be watered and what ind of climate do they originate from. To be frank, where do they originate from.
4. And last but not least. I wish to tap into you creative side. I have to small branches of it i was thinking i might be able to at some train them to twist around each other is this or is this not a excellent thought if not what should i do with them?

1dip it in rooting hormone, get it at home depot/lowes, and stick it in soil. should root in 3-4 weeks.
2 lowes
3 outdoor. daily, until established. moderate. china
4 excellent thought. once rooted they grow quick

This is our blue heeler (Australian cattle dog) Rudder. He is a small under 2 years ancient at the filming of this and I’ve been waiting to get this on video for awhile.
