No such thing as a baby bonsai. Bonsai (although literally translated tree in ) has much history and culture behind it, therefore there are strict guidelines to achieve before you are able to call the tree you have a bonsai (bone-sigh). A in a small is the opposite of what you want to achieve a bonsai. .bonsai4me. has all the you need to grow trees into .

Now, if you want to keep your small tree in a small pot, that is ok too! I reckon they are fantastic additions to an outside garden, just please dont refer to it as a bonsai. Grow it as you would the actual tree, but incorporate excellent container growing practices.

Have well draining soil unless your tree likes it wet, probably dry between waterings. Use a and stick it in the soil, if it comes out dirty, dont water, if it comes out clean, water. If it is a deciduous tree, fertilize with a 20 – 20 – 20 every two weeks during the growing season. Harden off with a 0 – 5 – 10 in the fall. If it is evergreen, they have a different fertilizer regimen they follow.

Prune the roots and top of tree , dont fertilize for 1 month. Hope this helps! Pleased growing.
